The Importance of Omega-3 Fatty Acids |
There are many foods that can provide the Omega-3 Fatty Acids. These include vegetables oils such as olive, canola, sunflower, soya bean, cottonseed, grape seed, peanut, flax and corn oil. The plant oils that are known to be good sources of these fats are algal, echium and flaxseed oils. From under the water, fish and squid oils are known to be the best sources of this oil. Salmon, walnuts and sardines are also popular for this matter. Nothing has beaten the popularity of cod liver oil though, when it comes to the extraction of Omega-3 Fatty Acids. The consumption of these fatty acids must be considered in conditions such as depression, joint pain, fatigue, any cardiovascular disease, inability to concentrate, dry and itchy skin, type-2 diabetes and brittle hair and nails. Presence of omega-3 fats helps reduce inflammation, maintain the fluidity of cell membranes, helps prevent the growth of cancer cells, relaxes and dilates the arteries, keeps the blood from clotting, prevents platelet aggregation and inhibits thickening of arteries. In addition, these good fats also promote healthy blood circulation and reduce blood pressure and prevent heart attacks.
Omega-3 Fatty Acids have been found to be very effective in keeping the digestive tract free of any sort of inflammation, clean and healthy and this is one of the major most reasons why they are highly recommended for intake.
